I got my Covid vaccination today (Moderna).  Also got the 2025 Flu shot (extra strength for 65+).

Indiana now requires a prescription from your doctor to get the Covid vaccine at any age.  So that is a new bit of friction in the process but not that difficult to overcome, just annoying.

My wife went to DisneyWorld and all she brought back for me was covid.

She returned Monday (Sep 1) and started having a sore throat. Went to a hospital-run doc-in-the-box Tuesday (Sep 2) and tested clear for covid, strep, & rsv.  On Thursday (Sep 4), she went to our GP, tested positive, and got meds ($700). With Paxlovid, she has had a moderate case so far. Sore throat, runny nose, persistent dry cough --but not severe lung congestion.  It is sloooowly going away, now mostly just weak and lacking strength to do more than light exertion.

I started to have a very minor sore throat Friday (Sep 5) afternoon. Covid was confirmed by a home test kit Saturday (Sep 6).  So far, I've had colds that were worse. Slight fever, runny nose, minor sore throat, loss of appetite but fatigued and very sleepy. I napped most of Saturday.  I can't have Paxlovid or nsaids due to drug reactions but my case was mild so I figured I'd tough it out through the weekend.  On Monday, my nephrologist told me to just "stay the course."  I'm also sloooowly getting better --just minor symptoms now.

Oof RC. Glad it's been mild. I'm sure it's been a rather concerning week.

Whoa! Glad to read that it's mild so far.

I assume you are on immunosuppressants, not to mention just the general health issues. My sister was on immunosuppressants and had other health issues and was always worried about catching stuff.

They, by the way, created a "bubble" on their porch. They got some clear plastic and sealed it around the edges. They pushed a table up against both sides. When things were tough for her, they could still have friends and family for dinner. Those who were in her household and masking and quarantining would be at one table, and the invitees would enter through the porch door and sit at the other table. It was a lot of fun, especially during the Covid period when people were afraid to visit anyone. My immuno-compromised sister was one of the few people they could safely have dinner with (bringing their own food of course).

Brad

RC glad it's mild and glad you are on the mend.

I was debating with myself if this was too early but I kept reading more and more posts about Covid spreading, plus kids are back in school so that's a giant incubator, so I decided to get it now before somebody outlaws it.

> immunosuppressants

Yes, but only two: tacrolimus & prednisone.  Perhaps luckily, we were in the process of tweaking immunosuppressant dosages and both had been reduced.  I suspect that may be a reason my case was mild but I'll never know.

Metformin is the other med I'm on that has a long history of not playing well with others.

Same. It is pretty big now.  Lots of regional & national feeds trending.

Don't wait.

Since we've had covid, the doc says we have to wait 4 months before vax.
