High doses of antioxidants cause birth defects

Some people link Linus Pauling's cancer to his mega doses of Vitamin C.

The thing about anti-oxidants is they are great if you have oxidative particles (free radicals) to absorb. Since generally we always have some, a bit of anti-oxidant helps.

But it's like acid and base. If your drinking water is a bit basic, adding some acid will be good. But adding more acid is not good. In fact it ends up creating almost the same problem you had to start with.

I backed off my beloved, unsweetened cranberries & pure juice for similar reasons. Moderate in oxalates to high for some concentrates.  This can cause kidney stones in some.
