By the way, I first came across Derek in 2008 (I think) as I was trying to move outside coding and what SEO knowledge I had picked up on WMW. I did some search and found the Andrew Warner interviews with Seth Godin and Derek Sivers. I had never heard of any of them.

But that led me to Tim Ferriss podcast years later (launched in 2014), where both Sivers and Godin have appeared several times.

A few things I always associated with Derek

 - Version Infinity - the tendency of people to map out the most complete, complex version of their idea and start there. We would see this sometimes on WMW with people who were worried about the efficiency of something and how well it would scale to mega traffic before they even had a hundred visitors per day.

 - Today - he has a rule with his son that on judgmental statements, they add today. As in, they are not allowed to say, "I don't like tomatoes." They have to say, "I don't like tomatoes today."

And I like his backstory of how he built, briefly abandoned, came back and then sold CD Baby.
