Unless Matt and his team have sneaked an update to panda/penguin at the same time (Still wanting for a response on that one https://twitter.com/Chunkford/status/252485506137481217 :p )

Yep, looks like it was more than just an EMD algo - http://www.seroundtable.com/google-two-updates-15782.html

Gotta love the crazyness Google can bring to the masses lol

Yea, google doing what google does best by creating FUD - Their only weapon to defend against their inability to create a fair search engine.

Ah well, back to milking the system then :p

The sad part is that they are totally capable of creating a fair SE. But they'd have to give up some control to do it, and that's what they can't face, it seems. They are trying to build a walled garden so big, you don't even know you're in it, because you can't see the walls

Panda.... Knew there was something else up.  Funny how a lot of "seomoz" types were proclaiming it was ONLY an EMD update.  numpties.

IrishWonder

Not too surprising - they just repeat what G tells them

looks to me like the EMD update was real, but may have been rolled back slightly over the past few days/week.

Anyone else seen any recent shifts for EMDs?

Yep. Seen improvements recently, not across the board but in a few instances there appears to have been a roll back to levels not far off prior rankings.

Yeah seen a few.  On a couple EMD they'd flutter between say 10th and 340th and anywhere inbetween for a few days.  Most of my issues from that date were Panda though and a good ole 301 fixed them.
