Google shopping paid inclusion - anyone in it?

we have clients with product feeds, but we're in the UK so have no need to flip to paid inclusion on shopping at the moment (at least we haven't been forced to as yet).

Our Google adwords contact is pretty clueless on how this works - is anyone using the paid model? How does it work and how is it performing for you?
