If I were to list what I wanted you to take away from this post, it would be this:

   1. Google's primary concern is not "the web" or "you" – it's Google
   2. Penguin is not always fair – Google knows it but... see #1
   3. Panda is not always fair – Google knows it but... see #1
    4. Google talks the talk, but does not walk the walk and there's nothing we can do about it
    5. "Creating good content" guarantees you JACK SHIT when it comes to ranking
    6. SEO is as alive now as it was a decade ago
    7. SEO has evolved to become the result of an actual marketing strategy versus marketing tactics
    8. Your pony is dead

The above is all true. However it is not new and it is not news.  All of that has been widely known and true since the terms Penguin and Panda entered the search lexicon. Even #7 has been true for a decade - but just as one option. What has happened is that the other options have been reduced.

Anyone want to make predictions about who will do the next widely shared rant?  It seems to be the trend at the moment. My money is that there will be one more then Rand or someone will do a big smug counter rant.

Hey - as long as SEOs keep sharing and linking to each other's rants the big circle-jerk of search will go on.

I liked it.  I liked Aaron's too.

None of it is new and all we seem to be able to do is rant, but that does not mean that the allegations against Google are not more true than Googles propaganda. I think the truth should be repeated.  It might be old to us but there are always a newbie or eight coming along that have drunk Google's koolaid.

I liked it too.  I don't think most of the world is aware of the changes, and probably don't care.

But I think they should. Choice, that was once one of the joys of the internet, is being eradicated.

Its just one more small step along the line of big business doing everything, and paying everyone else in the world just about enough to live.

I prefer a world where we have a bigger chance to better ourselves, and that is getting more difficult.

I had missed this one, it made me laugh:

QuoteA buddy of mine mentioned getting a bad link example from Google where the link was in place longer than Google has been in existence.

I agree.  I just think that SEOs ranting on their blog is never going to do that and makes the whole topic look like sour grapes.

Its a bit like reading a trashy magazine.  A seedy indulgence with no positive outcome.

Check me out and my moral high ground  :)

Bloggers are like the 18th century pamphleteers, here to rabble (that would be us) rouse.

Whether it be verses big corporations, big politicians, political parties, ideologies, monopolies sometimes all an individual has is words (and hyperlinks) and the hope that enough people might listen so that you can effect change.   Amazon has a form for posting product reviews, posts like these are like Greater Web product reviews for Google.

Even if it is a waste of time, I hate to see Google's, warm fuzzy, propaganda slide through completely unchallenged.

SEOs won't stop ranting on their blogs because it adds more 'keyword rich' content ;+}
