Can anyone recommend a good on-page editor, preferably desktop software that operates on local files and can edit (and bulk edit) titles, metas, etc ?

Thanks,

Gary.

Is there a demand for an offline, on-page editor ?

Most sites have CMS' with SEO features now so i guess there isn't.

When you say "bulk edit" do you mean where you would get a table of meta titles and edit each one individually, or where you would make changes with a massive search and replace of common elements?

For the former -- I don't know of anything that would do this in bulk. Interesting idea... a few regular expressions and a form and you could make a light app.

For the latter -- grep, sed, Wingrep, PowerGrep, Notepad++

Yes the former, planning SEOPad as we speak ;+}

So few sites are static, though, so...

In a DB-driven site it's just a matter of building the form that pulls in all the meta title fields.

Ha! :)

Like Erg says probably not enough demand, i'd pay a tenner for it if it existed, i have 5 or 6 clients on FTP only.

May just knock one up.
