Anyone been watching the Isle of Man TT?

I have really been enjoying it this year.  Speed is not my thing when riding, but I love watching it.

I'd love to head over there one day.  Anyone ever been?

Never been to the TT but it is on my list to go>

Guy Martin is one of my heros.

Along with Reinhold Messner,  Robin Knox Johnson, George Lowe.  different, I know.

The racing has been IMHO out of this world.  Hats off to them.  I wouldnt have wanted to race in the wet. (I wouldn't want to race at all)

The Dunlop brothers are I think completely mad.  Must run in the family.  So cool about it too.

Ahha! You see Rupert, that could start your tour next year ;)

I could ride with you, but I'd have to upgrade from my 125 first (which is on my list!)

Rupert

Not sure I can wait that long!

it will have to be the second one!

...at an average speed of 131mph, over a 30+mile lap.

I really like like Guy, even if I can't understand him, but who can't like John?

The speed is just amazing especially when you think that there are slow bends and the run off areas are...err...peoples front gardens and walls and trees!

I think this is even crazier / scarier.

Subaru has smashed the long-standing lap record for a production car at the Isle of Man TT circuit with its WRX STI saloon.
Former British Rally Champion Mark Higgins posted a time of 19 minutes and 56.7 seconds with an average speed of 113mph with a peak speed 162mph

Yes, bloody scary - a view from the car - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jSYiU-JdRw

MotoGP in England and Superbike today @ Misano:). I hear there is light rain at Silverstone.

Valentino wrecked in warmup (and is fine) but waaay back on grid. Stoner is in pole, Simoncelli behind him.  Cal broke his collarbone qualifying, so will miss his home race.

Stoner is really shining on the Honda and Vale looks terrible on the Ducati, and not even all that much better than the other riders on Ducati's. That's been a real flop this year. Too bad. But I also think Honda looks great and chose an awesome team and, not surprisingly, has the best bike on track.

Rupert

Never really watched any of the Superbike. Got bored at Donington after the initial flush of excitement.

What am I missing Dogboy, what's the buzz?

This chap is a local to me:

He was born 17 miles away... .although I never met him  ;D

BMW has a good bike and your boy there knows how to ride it:)

Honestly, I follow MotoGP like a trashy soap opera, but after that, I drop off dramatically.  I mean, I watch SBK when it's on, but have no idea who is who, or their racing history.

Basically, you have to look at these races like any other championship... there is what happens in THIS race, and there is the points championship in the background... and you have to keep track of both to better appreciate what you are seeing.

Rupert

Sounds like it needs the sort of time I might find when I retire.....

Look at how they hang over the side to balance the thing...
