Mackin USA

Last time I checked it cost A FORTUNE to get to Reykjavik

So we did not go!

You can get there cheap now but it costs a shit-ton to stay there, so I'm told.

Rumbas

I only do direct flights and having a lay over in Iceland is not tempting to me.
Cheap though, very cheap.

I'm a direct guy too but my biz partner flew to US via Ireland last time. Was cheap but best part is they have US Customs at the airport, very quick and easy.

I like cheap. One of my best stories is the time the Vikings, Louise, & I bought 7£ tickets to Edinburgh just in case it worked out in our plans. If not, oh well, throw them away. (We went.)

Last I checked, the trouble with Ireland is that it isn't (yet) a big enough hub for grabbing other brands of Chicken Air flights.   STN, AMS, or -increasingly- CPH have the mass of connections to make country-hopping cheaper than taxi fare to the airport.

Meanwhile, in the US: Introducing 'Basic Economy Class'

QuoteOne major change will affect what passengers can bring on board — the basic economy ticket will only allow for one personal item that can be slotted under the seat in front. Nothing more.

Passengers also won't be allowed to pick their own seat, but will have the option of paying extra for a seating assignment right before their flight.

The people have spoken with their credit cards and the airlines are giving them what they want.

I'm the opposite. Love Reykjavik.  I'd be more likely to take a trip if I got a stop over there.

>Now cheap US-Asia

Awwwww yisssssss.

Keep an eye on that Hawaii-Japan flight, Dras. Using HI as stopover worked pretty well on Hanoi trip. US fares to Honolulu weren't horrific, either.

Drastic

I'm actually wanting to go the same route again and stay in Tokyo a couple/few days. HI sounds good for the next one, though.

You had me at "cheap Japan-Hawaii flights"

Keep me posted if this ever really happens.  Or Seattle-Japan.

Another likely route will be Vegas-Japan.
