You're saying this with the popularity of the Echo and the Google...whatever it's called?  I don't know...I think maybe people just aren't used to talking to their devices...yet.  But when this generation of kids grows up, it might be the norm.

Agreed. And if my experience with a consumer adaptation of online travel booking is a guide, it'll only be 5 years.  (I can still recall the 'You're NUTS!' look of the hotels and tourism honchos when I was evangelizing in the mid-90s.) The short time frame is why I think it'll have to leap-frog voice rather than displace it.

Look up "subvocalizations"...

Or read the long novel Existenz, which is scifi, and I thought all the subvocalization stuff was BS, until I realized they are working on it now. Not accurate yet, but give it time.
