Committing to 4 gym workouts a week.

First week I did 4/4, sort of.  I missed my Sunday workout so I went Monday instead.  So, this week I should be hitting the gym 5 times to be on track.

Rupert

Ah, beat me to it, thank you.  I was about to start a thread, and fortunately scanned the list first :)

Last week.
2 runs
2 tennis
1 swim.

Great to get a swim in at last!

5/4....  I can feel the light coming back, how I hate the dark.

I really need to get back in the gym so I'm going for 3/week gym visits only, starting next week.

I got in the five workouts this last week; so that's 4/4 plus the makeup workout I did on Monday.

Last week.
2 runs
2 tennis

4/4 pleased. Weight still climbing despite skipping 2 meals at the w/e.

OK added... Today is  a happy day.  Daughters 16th birthday, and I was out before 6 on my run, with the sun rising over my shoulder.  I try to make sure all days have a plus in them, but I got back and felt I wanted to share this is a very special day for us.

Also on my run I had a bitter/sweet moment thinking about a wake I am going to this friday. It is for an old School friend -Jack-  of my Dads. Jack was 95. I have a long list of memories to share with the family (They are like cousins, he had 2 families, first wife died of Polio).

He was a Doctor, and when I was a teenager about Lucys age, he told me to get out of breath everyday, and eat an egg. Seems like that advice is still pretty good!

I hope you don't mind me sharing those.

Well, it got him to 95!  At the end of each workout I've been running a 1/4 mile as fast as I can to get the blood pumping hard.  I like the way it makes me feel.

I really like reading stories like this.

Did my 4/4 gym workouts.  I've been running a bit at the end of each.  I have a somewhat embarrassing goal of running an 8 minute mile -- not very fast.

Actually, I consider 8-minute pretty fast. There's some life insurance company that promises big discounts if you can run under 8 because all-cause mortality is way, way lower than the average sedentary American.

I had a goal last year of running a 1:15 quarter and a 6-minute mile. The one day I had at a measured track, I did the quarter (in 1:11), but I couldn't do the mile. Most days, though, I pat myself on the back and say "Good job!" when I run at an 8-minute pace.

Concur, especially bearing in mind running is not the focus.

Quotegoal of running an 8 minute mile
Ha!  Thats mine too :)
Last week was 3/4... 3 Runs. Bad shoulder so no tennis or swimming. hopefully better very soon, its not too bad.

I managed my fastest ever 2 miles last week.  8.03 mins. So pleased with that.  Getting close.

LM thanks for posting your target.

Ergophobe, that's pretty fast!  I'm curious, what did you do in your teens & twenties?

Rupert, you are really close!

Travoli, nice job hitting your weekly goal.

Side note:  My kid just hit 185lbs. on her deadlift.
