Jokes aside, most of this stuff seems to be hardwired into people as far as attraction goes -- it has to do with fitness for reproduction and the perceived ability to take care of children.  This is why strength in males and hip-to-waist ratios in females are associated with  attraction.  It is evolution at work.

As for the original article, though, I wonder if there's an exception for high-level rock climbers who, traditionally are marginally employed people living in vans with off the charts grip strength (measured as strength to weight, of course).
