Never add your 13 year old niece as a friend. 
Now the 'People You May Know' section is filled with kids and my screen looks like peados wet dream.

Apart from deleting my niece, is there anyway to stop it recommending her friends?

I'm not sure who can read what on my FB acct anymore, so I try to only post inane chatter there anymore.  Sorry I'm not much help.

The people you may know section is only viewable by you - so it looking like a paedo's wet dream is only an issue if it is giving you paedo wet dreams.
However - when you log in look for the "X friend suggestions" on the right hand side.  Click that and they should all come up.  Click "ignore" on any that you don't want to appear.

I think it will pass. I actually finally succumbed to getting a facebook account because my nieces convinced me, so my first three "friends" were 13, 16, and 18 year olds.

It's been ages since I've had a 15 year-old girl suggested as a friend. I think the algorithm looks at your web of connections and it tends to suggest people that you have a couple of different connections to and, as it turns out, not many of my other friends are friends with my nieces's friends, and those that are  are almost all blood relatives, so I can't duck 'em anyway.

Deleted my first facebook account some years ago, can't even remember how you added connections back then.

Mostly using this for work related stuff. So even if no one else can see these its just bloody embarrassing when demoing something to 3 people sat round your desk and have a screen full of kids not old enough to be on the site as friend suggestions. 

Guess i'll wait and see
