Traffic / Is this a rubbish article ?

Surely PPC isn't the best first step for a small business, it seems to be expensive to get on page 1 ?

Water Cooler / Re: Got my first customer via Google ads !
« on: February 20, 2014, 11:42:08 AM »
Trying to run another ad campaign and it says 'Disapproved' and 'Site Suspended'.

I haven't altered my website since yesterday so am puzzled.

I've read through all the stuff that could possibly get you suspended and i don't qualify IMHO.

Also have no warnings in GWT or emails from Google so i've emailed them but it can take up to 3 days to get a response :(

I suppose Ads are reviewed manually so maybe they've seen something that couldn't be spotted algorithmicallly ?

Anyone else had this when they haven't made any changes ?

Hardware & Technology / MySEOTool vs SerpBook
« on: February 19, 2014, 10:43:54 PM »
I took the trial with MySEOTool and then paid for a month, which is nearly over.

Good points :

Integration with GA, WMT, social media and Adwords, 500 keywords, ten clients, white label client dashboards, pretty reports.

Bad points :

Only updates keyword data every 24 hours, but seomtimes it's been over 2 days.

Tech support not very with it nor keen to help, not very knowledgeable about the product.

It costs £30 for the basic package.

Serpbook good points, i'm currently running a trial :

updates bi-hourly (sometimes 2.5-3 hours).

£18 per month.

integrates with GA.

Bad points :

no WMT or social media or Adwords integration.

client dashboard isn't white label.

whit lable reports aren't so pretty.

no competitor analysis.

Overall, for what i need, serpbook wins.

Anyone else used these services or others, have any thoughts ?

The old ways are the best, trust-relationship exploitation, probably anything going to a vetted contractor wasn't transactoin-volume monitored.

Just got my first customer that wasn't via word of mouth :)

Unfortunately it isn't down to my SEO expertise but he found the Google ad - on page 3 of his SERPs!!

Thank god some people don't just look at the first page :)

Monetization / How long until my PPC campaign shows my ad in SERPs ?
« on: February 18, 2014, 02:52:28 PM »
I'm doing a test advert with google adwords.

After setting up the campaign you are told that it will take effect 'almost immediately'.

I read in an article that it can take up to five days, considering i've only payed up until Friday midnight that's a bit scarey !

I've checked that everything is active and enabled and all my details are correct.

Anyone have any experience with this ?

Thanks,

Gary.

Yes i checked a few and G has no cache of them.

I checked some on archive.org and they seemed to have been authentic sites at one point, but none of them were used for a few years after they were registered, which was in 95.

This one, for example, regged in '95 but nothing on archive until 2008 :

https://web.archive.org/web/20080701145322/http://www.storybiketrip.info/

I'm just trying to figure out why this company is high in SERPs.

G says they only have four links to their site, three of which are from their site.

But if i search G for the website in quotes there are about 100 results.

Most of the results are sites like pagesinventory and webstatsdomain.

I'm having trouble getting my own site high in the rankings and just trying to figure out what others are doing that i know nothing about.

A few companies i've checked out are a joke, like clicksubmit, they just spam links every 3 months for their clients, but having checked into them deeply i see their clients that theyh list on the website are way down in SERPS now so G obviously doesn't take long to figure out bad plays.

The more i do this the more it's like a giant computer game, probably the most interesting IT field i've worked in, but bloody frustrating !
