>>Requirement for Face Coverings

Washington is now requiring face coverings too. Starts on Friday. In theory businesses can't serve people who aren't wearing masks. I am very interested to go to the grocery stores this weekend to see if they are enforcing this. I know Costco had a requirement for the last few weeks but there were still plenty of people with no masks there.

It is being widely ignored in California. Someone who is traveling sent me this shot and said he is seeing signs like this everywhere.

One of the challenges: by definition, people who are gallivanting around tourist towns are not people particularly concerned with the spread of Covid.

I am seeing a pretty wide variation from area to area.  My local town is pretty good about masks and the numbers are showing it compared to the neighboring towns.  Overall though the state is doing quite poor, as are most states right now.

I am trying to imagine what life is going to be like when we crack the 10% infected level.

I've seen headlines that bars and restaurants are closing again in Houston.  It must be truly apocalyptic there.

My local town is pretty good about masks

A friend just went to Berkeley and said it is completely different than here in CA District 4. Everyone wearing masks, keeping distance, etc.

But then again, Alameda County (where Berkeley is) voted 14% for Trump and San Francisco voted 9% for Trump. But here in Mariposa County and in neighboring Tuolumne County where the above sign came from, we went 58% and 57% for Trump. Lassen County, the county that reopened early and then had to shut back down, went 79% for Trump in 2016. And as we know, mask-wearing has become a means of signaling political affiliation.

Yep. It's the bars...

"All bars and similar establishments that receive more than 51% of their gross receipts from the sale of alcoholic beverages are required to close at 12:00 pm Friday."
