They only serve to amplify the signal giving the government and Google a greater ability to beam messages into your head

I met a guy once who was absolutely convinced the CIA had bugged his furnace.   ???

Google has other means of spying.

My ex-son-in-law, now deceased, worked for one of those Research Triangle Park shadow tech companies set up by a 3-letter gov agency (probably starting with "N").  As best as Debbie could determine, his primary expertise was network security.  Years before we started the remote working movement, he moved his office to his home.  This seemed odd to me, but now I assume that it was to limit oversight by those in the company.  I know his security clearance was higher than his bosses' and he didn't like people seeing him leave his desk for other ultra-secure rooms within the building.  These rooms had guards and scanners searching for any electronics, thumb drives, etc.

Get the picture?  This is waaaaay beyond tinfoil hats.

One day on his home network he caught a network breach coming in over a firmware update for his laser printer.

Have you ever read Cuckoo's Egg by Clifford Stohl?

He was... an astronomer I think... but had issues with funding so was running a network and noticed that one audit and the other didn't quite match up... and it turned out to be the East Germans breaking into US computers and tunneling through to Oakridge Labs, MITRE (my onetime employer) and others.
