I'd come across some of his work while looking at 'private blog networks'. It seems he's young and wasn't shying away from rubbing people the wrong way and telling them he's right and how he's highly regarded in the industry. I guess that comes part and parcel with calling yourself a God...

I wouldn't be surprised if someone he annoyed managed to put it on there. If not... Bubba awaits.

I think I became aware of him when we was trying to outrank Rand on his own name.  I always thought it was a clever way of getting some profile in the SEO space.

Obviously, if he's guilty then he's scum but I'll reserve judgement.

Just to clarify: This guy is 18, could this be a case of an 18 y.o. having pictures of his 16/17 y.o. girlfriend?  There have been teens in the US that have been charged for posting pictures of themselves.

From the description I'm not sure, though the age of consent there is 16.

One of the charges is for having "extreme pornography" and another is for "child pornography", it could well be that he has some kinky stuff on there as well as photos of an old girlfriend.

There's a separate charge for DDOS'ing the Home Office.

Supposedly some 4chan cache was found on his pc and the charges are trumped-up.

we're all freaked out about sexual abuse in the UK right now (I dont mean to sound flippant, clearly it's very wrong, but there is an element of hysteria). Generally it is best to assume innocent* until proven guilty rather than the other way around.

*or at least innocent of intent to harm it may be illegal to possess them but pretty much every 15 year old girl I know sends pictures of her boobs to her b/f on her cameraphone.

Is anyone else weirdly curious about how Gurtie knows this?

She is right though.  Here in the UK we like to snigger about how our friends in the colonies respond to Ebola or terrorism whilst simultaneously going bat-sh## crazy about the thought of any adult looking in the vague direction of a child.

Long ago it became risky for a man to help a child in obvious distress, much safer to fetch the nearest female to deal with it. Sad really.
I'd rather decline two drinks than one German adjective.

Yup. There have been several articles mentioning that sad state of affairs here in the US.  I can tell you that I keep it in mind, personally. If it's an accident or obvious danger, sure, go help.  But a kid crying in the mall and looking lost?  Nope, go get a female to accompany you.

From my old age perspective, I can say that we knew of some risks to children a generation ago but the systematic pervasiveness that was actually uncovered in the catholic church, BBC, etc. was something of a shock to me.

Exactly what we were speculating.  Obviously, this is his statement, which would be a relatively positive spin on the topic.

>hysteria

I completely agree.  It is here in the US too.  We are punishing teens for acting like teens.

It is also affecting the way we interact with kids on a daily basis.  I'll give you an example.  I was with my daughter at her school's play area and she was wanting to do the monkey-bars, but they were too high for her to reach -- so I had to lift her up to reach them.  Her friend was there and also wanted me to lift her up.  My first instinct was 'ok', but then I thought about it and had to tell her no.

I am sure this is happening all over the place and kids today are growing up thinking that adults are a bunch of jerks.

Wait until that new 'Yes means yes' law kicks in and overlaps with some of the hysteria.  While I understand and agree with the concept, I see this law more as a codified overreaction, too.
