Yahoo monetizes email forwarding
« on: December 01, 2020, 11:34:06 PM »
At Yahoo, we are continually looking for ways to deliver the best products and services to our customers. Sometimes that involves changing how and where certain account features are offered so that we can provide you with the best possible value.

That’s why we want to let you know that starting on 01/01/21, the auto-forwarding feature that is currently part of your Yahoo Mail account will no longer be available.

However, we have good news!

Now, you have two options to choose from so that you can keep using those features that mean the most to you.

Option #1:

Access + Forwarding allows you to preserve your Yahoo emails and email forwarding. For just $1/month (billed annually) you can:
Automatically forward Yahoo emails to another email address
Access your Yahoo emails without the worry of them being deleted due to email account inactivity**

Option #2

Yahoo Mail Pro provides you with a premium email experience for just $3.49/month that includes:
Ability to automatically forward Yahoo emails to another email address
An ad-free Yahoo Mail experience on both desktop and mobile
Faster loading emails on Desktop browsers
Continued access to emails that won’t get purged due to inactivity**
Priority customer support to get help anytime with your account

I've been noticing that over the past couple of years, people with example@yahoo.com addresses mostly reply from example@gmail.com addresses.

I've been wondering how Yahoo can afford to do that if my contacts are representative in any way. If you run a service entirely supported by ads and most of the emails through your system end up generating ad views for you competitor, you have to do something.

And if you're the marketing department, you word the press release so that it sounds like a wonderful new service upgrade.
