Web Development / Woocommerce Subscription Plugin
« on: April 03, 2014, 11:39:45 AM »
Anyone here used it?

Asking because I'm not sure where all the data comes from when a renewal order is created.
I have a funny feeling it all comes from the 1st ever order created which makes the option for customers to change their shipping address in my account useless as it updates the users data not the original order.

Hope that makes sense.

Marketing / Facebook & Videos

I've come to the conclusion, video that you upload to Facebook not linked from places like youtube, gets far more reach than any other type of post.

Would say this is correct?

« on: March 11, 2014, 11:13:24 AM »
Anyone else had issues with the new ICANN rules?

Just found out that NameCheap have suspend one of my domain because of a change of whois data. Whois data that was changed because I cancelled their whois privacy.
Now I have to wait 24 - 48 hours for it to come back online - http://screencast.com/t/7QL6ShnCh

Marketing / Images for social media
« on: March 04, 2014, 05:19:42 PM »
I've been creating little images that I plan to place on my facebook page with the intention of making them go viral.
But I'm conscious that some images will need to be brought from a stock photo company.

I've tracked them down but I'm confused over what licence I need for this.
Can anyone here shed some light on the subject?

Gravity - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1454468/

OMG, this.. is.. a-mazing!
I would say it is one of my top films and makes me want to get the biggest, bad a## TV I can. Visually it is stunning, the story line is involving, and it just has that X factor (no, not Simon Cowell)

Hardware & Technology / Age verification when selling online
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:46:52 AM »
Due to recent developments a new law is going to be passed in the UK that restricts the products I'm selling to over 18's only.

This is a new area for me and I'm looking into solutions.

While I'm doing this, has anyone here been in this situation and can share their experiences?

One solution is using this http://www.gbgplc.com/products/id3global/
Looks smart, seems to do the job but I can't help feeling it's going to cripple conversion rates.

Web Development / Email deliverability
« on: January 24, 2014, 11:40:07 AM »
I've noticed that my emails sent from wordpress have started to be tagged as spam.
I have no idea why as I haven't changed anything and TBH the area of emails is a bit of a mystery to me.

It is currently setup to use localhost to send emails out and in the past I did use outlooks.com smtp server as I'm using their domains setup but had to change it back to localhost as I wasn't getting anywhere with it.

Looking around I see places like mandrill and mailjet and I'm thinking I could maybe use these, but before I go down this road I'm just wondering if anyone here has any experience with these services or have any tips to ensure that the system emails (e.g. order comfirmations, reminders etc) get delivered?

Water Cooler / High Risk Merchant accounts in the UK
« on: December 10, 2013, 03:17:58 PM »
OK, I need one and as I know some of you are involved in 'high risk' businesses or was.

Getting pretty fed up now as I keep getting turned down because a) it's to do with electronic cigarettes and b) it's subscription based.

I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction of a merchant account provider that can accommodate what I need.

I though I had success with First Data but they're telling me to drop the recurring part of the business which will not work unless I go back to the drawing board.
