Web Development / Weird goings on with facebook pages
« on: December 08, 2012, 12:00:27 PM »
What's the crack with this?

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Testpage1/283696238399946

I set up a test facebook page and when I view it through the normal site it's fine.
But if I view it on the mobile version or through the native app, all it does is provide a list of other pages to like.

Is it a major c##k up on Facebooks part, or am I being dump and haven't done something properly?

Water Cooler / Staples to offer instore 3d printing service
« on: December 03, 2012, 04:56:55 PM »

A new service called “Staples Easy 3D” will allow customers to upload their designs to Staples’ website, then pick up the printed objects at their local office supply megastore, or have them shipped to their home or business — not unlike the photo- and document-printing service the company already offers.

Still, the move by an established corporation to offer 3-D printing further legitimizes the adoption of the rapidly growing field by the mass market. Similar services currently exist, being offered by companies like Shapeways and Sculpteo, but this is the first to be made available from a chain retailer.

Staples Easy 3D will launch in the Netherlands and Belgium in the first quarter of 2013, and will be rolled out to other countries shortly afterword. No word yet on pricing or when it will reach the United States.

Be interesting to see how popular it will be.

Water Cooler / How do you consume information?
« on: November 28, 2012, 01:31:23 PM »
Following on from a comment RC made in one of my threads, how do you organise and consume the information that matters most to you?

I was thinking about it last night, that I have chaotic method of RSS feeds in Google Reader, bookmarks, emails, twitter, facebook (that's more personal) and forums I browse.
Is that how you guys do it, or am I missing a trick?

Be interested in how others do it and stop getting overloaded with infoblindness.

Hardware & Technology / Taking card payments on your phone

https://www.izettle.com/

Read that these guys are finally coming out of private testing here in the UK and will be going main stream any time now.
Being the man I am, I'm getting very excited about this. Like when I was a young boy at xmas!

Have any of you US'ers seen or used this or other any other systems such as square or paypal offering?

While my mind is racing with the possibilities, as izettle is the only one that uses the chip and pin system used in the UK, I can't help feel how customers would feel about being handed over a mobile phone to type in there pin and pay by card.

If you have spare time, which most of us don't :( then look at this crazy hand drawn comic.

at 165888 x 79872 pixels, if printed out it would cover 46 feet. Inside is an entire illustrated world, filled with stories and hidden treasures - all hand-drawn.

The difficult part is choosing which way to start dragging!

Water Cooler / Book recommendations
« on: October 18, 2012, 10:55:52 AM »
I'm in a book buying mood.

Can anyone recommend books that have inspired you and helped you in your quest for online business supremacy?

To give an example, I'm looking to get Creative Mischief: 1 by Dave Trott - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Mischief-1-Dave-Trott/dp/095643570X

Thanks in advance :)
