A few extra ads on PPC
« on: February 28, 2011, 09:38:56 AM »
haven't had a chance to work out exactly when this kicks in yet, but has anyone else noticed Google are now showing ads for different keywords in the PPC? Basically like 'related searches' but potentially costing people money.....

If these are just "broad match" ads, the same that they were showing before, but now are segregated "related" ads then it may improve ROIs. On the other hand if these are more like "extended broad" matches then it will probably mean more clicks and less conversions.  If I were to place odds I'd go with the latter.

they seem to be testing on science, education and medical terms, from what I've been able to find. Headings are not the same as the 'related searches' at the bottom of the page, so its hard to see exactly what criteria might be being used, and since they're not on especially commercial SERPs (yet) its also pretty hard to second guess how broad match the ads may be setup.

If anyone finds a comment on this elsewhere could you please post a link? Cheers.
