The range of possible scenarios is still vast, but it looks like probably 2 million deaths by March 2021 (700,000 so far), which will be 5X as many as malaria (400,000/year). So much for all those, "It's just the flu. It's nothing like as bad as malaria," charts that circulated early on.
The bad news: even in the hot spots, antibody tests show well below 10% who have antibodies so far (highest observed in US is 6.9%) so we have a long ways to go.
The good news: if 70-80% of the people voluntarily increase hand washing and practice mask wearing, that's enough to bring it down from pandemic level to manageable.
