http://www.fastcompany.com/3048891/fast-feed/hackers-remotely-hijacked-a-jeep-on-the-highway

"From 10 miles away, Miller and Valasek proceeded to hack into his car's software, toggling the windshield wipers, blasting the radio, and, eventually, cutting the transmission. Later, the hackers also managed to take over the brakes and sent the Jeep into a ditch."

Anybody remember Maximum Overdrive?  So, when the machines take over all the 'smart' devices in an attempt to wipe us out my 1974 Z with a Chevy v8 will be one of the few vehicles actually able to be driven.

I think we had a post here about 8-9 months ago about a teenager hacking autos using off-the-shelf parts at defcon.  With this kind of article surfacing, it doesn't seem like much of a conspiracy theory that a 3-letter agency caused that reporter's wreck/death a year ago.

I carry an internet-connected supercomputer in my shirt pocket. I cannot fathom the idea that I might want Fiat (Fiat!! Based on my 70s-80s experience, just the mention of that company gives me chills.) or any other CAR company to provide me with their proprietary, dealer-serviced-at-a-premium bullshit.
