Recreating the Nirvana of Mowing the Lawn
https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/lawn-mowing-simulator

Since I bought the souped-up, drifting, hotrod zero-turn mower, I don't abhor mowing the yard but I sure as hell don't enjoy it. OK, maybe the long straightaways at full throttle are a little bit of fun.  Anyway, the bigger news is that I have been seeding, sprigging, or turfing slow-growing, low, dense, weed-choking turf grasses for about 10 years now and just this year they have finally matured enough so that I can wait 2 weeks between mowing.  That pretty much unheard of in the South.

For all the homeowners in the Southwest who will not be able to have lawns in the coming years. Still, somehow I don't think it's the mowing they will miss. For me, this was always the unpleasant chore that my dad had to nag me about except on rare occasions. Of course, I might have been more into it if we had had a lawn tractor instead of a push mower.

As an adult, I have never owned a square foot of lawn. I have lots of brush cutting and needle raking and burning to do each year, but it's like 2-3 hard days a year instead of a recurring task.

There's a pressure washing sim also, if you get bored mowing lawns.

I know. I was awestruck when I realized that it was still looking OK after 10-12 days this past mid-July, so I decided to see if it'd go the full 14.  Only mowed twice in August with *plenty* of rain, when yards usually go knee-deep in 5 days.

Besides the grass type (Bermuda & Centipede. ZERO fescue!!), the real trick was that I leveled the yard using 'red packing sand' (powder-y clay) and very thin topsoil.

And rocks. Lots of rocks.
