Yeah, I looked it up. Never heard of a Diamondback water snake.

>nope

We have 2 or 3 black snakes or brown garden snakes around here in the warm weather. They're chasing frogs & birds. I catch them when I can and take them across the street to my vacant lot and release.  Though I can identify a black snake, I just can't bring myself to just scoop it up behind the neck. I have to pin it down first.

I am still waiting to see my first real snake down here. Seen a few small ones but I want to see a big one that scares the crap out of me. Just once.

My wife is terribly afraid of snakes.  When we first started dating,* her mother would put rubber snakes around her house to freak her out.  I wouldn't do this today, but back then it made me a little mad so I took one of them and put it in a hanging pot above the stove.  My wife's mom isn't very tall, she had to reach up to pull the pot down.  She grabs it and without looking caries it to the sink and starts to fill it with water.  This was a few days after I put the snake in there.  All of a sudden I hear a scream, then a metallic bang and slashing of water as the pot falls in the sink.  I had such mixed feelings about that.

*fixed the egregious error

I’m not a gramanazi, but littleman you just made laugh so much I almost pissed my pants. Sometimes a missing comma gives a sentence a whole new meening:

When we first started dating her mother …
When we first started dating, her mother …

I know we have cultural differences but… LMFAO

Ditto on nope.  I hate snakes.

I was in a restaurant here many years ago and a little nonvenomous garden snake came in the back fire door which was open on a nice day and started slithering down the isle.  The diners where freaking.  The owner came out and like lightning captured the snake just  behind the head with chopsticks and took it outside to release.  Everyone applauded.

We have a few reptiles in the UK and only one of them is venomous, the Adder. They're actually quite rare but I have seen one occasionally here.

What we have in abundance here (Not in the whole UK though) are slow worms, which are legless lizards. They're extremely cute little creatures :)

I love this line in there: "One of the biggest causes of mortality in slow worms in suburban areas is the domestic cat, against which it has no defence.".

It's true, they love playing with them and my old  (now dead) dog wasn't a fan of them either.

I read a line somewhere a few years ago that has stuck with me:

"Cats and Humans are the only species that kill for pleasure."

I really haven't come up with any other species to disprove that.

I'll add ex wives to the list, as they generally (at least in my experience) don't fall into either of those 2 groups.

Killer whales do as well.
