Re-skinning the FB app? or skinning me?
« on: March 11, 2011, 07:09:18 PM »
So, I like my FB app so much I want the developers to turn my 1 app into 3 apps...

They need to find and replace the name of the app, and switch out the graphics, and toggle the offerings so:

App1 does both A&B
App2 does just B
App3 does just A

...it's mainly a marketing spin on App1 ($7500+) to hit 2 (of about 5) very distinct verticals, that I want to get in the mix asap.

... the cost they tell me is $2,960 per re-skin to turnkey it for me.

... the quote to make exactly what we currently building, 'mobile friendly' would cost around $3,500-$5,000. But you would have to multiply that by 3 too. (possible discounts apply)

...if I want to build an iphone app to tie into the app it will be about $7,400 for the first platform, 70-80% of that cost for each additional platform.

What do you think?  I think their reskin prices are too high.  I've never seen a FB before but it cant be that hard to reskin it.  All their duplicate prices seem high and worth quoting over seas.

man, I totally assumed the worst for no reason.  These things are nothing but a simple CSS website.

Here are the links to a sample app called, 'run with friends':

App:
http://apps.facebook.com/runwithfriends/

The code that makes that app work (download):

http://github.com/facebook/runwithfriends/zipball/master

...actually really simple.  Problem is I never really learned CSS:)  But they are charging way too much to re-skin for sure.

for sure.  I think they are a giood choice to make the first one but after that I'll hire that designer I was telling you all about in the jobs section, and get someone that understands CSS and that might be more like $500 a piece.
