Hardware & Technology / Bye, Wintel

Getting away from windows except on media/sim pcs. I cannot believe win still has 2-3 different interfaces cobbled together. Mac is a much smoother and easier experience these days and that's what most want at the office.

On my simrig, I just upgraded to an AMD cpu, for the first time ever. Intel has really dropped the ball on innovation in chip tech the last several years.

Well that's awesome. I usually spend most of my time making small enclosures when designing.

Honestly, I don't think anyone knows yet. Debbie says it's going to be a mix or organic/ppc and ai until they sort out the ads side for ai. Once they have figured out how to extract as much or more than they currently earn from ppc, then we'll be pushed fully into the ai realm. Reality probably won't be as clean or clear as that, but I expect we'll morph our way there by fire.

I've always said G would make the whole serp ppc if they could get away with it. This will get them closer than ever.

They have already been testing AI results for stuff like plumber city state. It will just pop up here and there as they test. This accelerated what we're doing for AI, when I saw it a few weeks ago.

ChatGPT has a beta ad model, but it requires a 50k buy-in. That's supposed to drop to 5k or less soon, but hasn't happened yet.

AI ads are going to be the new landscape for search profit if this push succeeds. Outside of that, AI optimize the hell out of all of your content. Start now and you won't be behind imo. So far its just been buzz and bullshit. Now chatgpt traffic is over 5% of referrers and G is losing search traffic so things are about to get weird. Optimize your content now and start putting your paid budget together. Nothing else to do yet.

It's crazy to me that people aren't up in arms about this. I guess like everything else that's a bit crazy today, ignorance.

Yeah, this is starting to smell really bad.

Does this and OPEC disbanding mean the end of the petrodollar? What else does debbie think?

umm that's the same samsung tha thas refused let me uninstall the facebook app from my galaxy phones. Nope.

Yeah this is going to be big. In G's words, bigger than the search box debut itself. Shit's about to change in a major way for search.

We'll be talking to ai instead of reading serps. They claim a full rollout this summer.

Whether this fully takes hold or transforms to something else, and when exactly that happens is up in the air, what we have right now today will be gone.

Hardware & Technology / In the age of AI...

I have serious trouble believing stuff like this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/1tg74ix/a_photographer_captured_a_weasel_riding_on_the/

until I read that it first appeared online over 10 years ago. I still have doubts that I wouldn't have had then.

I'm with you on ticks. No mountain lions and about the only thing big enough here to really jack someone up is a deer and that's super rare. I played out in the woods a lot as a kid and remember getting many ticks removed. This makes me never go into the treeline without a hat and preferably long sleeves & pants.

The crazy part is he just needed to give 3k "buyout" to release. He bought the car and sold it back at lease end, 3k was the difference.

If you could bank on that...

I've thought about the major city thing a lot over the years. We're halfway between ATL and Charlotte so it'll be glow time here.

This is because the guy didn't sign up for an account. Reddit has trouble selling ads to display to random visitors.

The enshitification continues.

I can only eat a hotdog if I personally blacken it to death first. Corndog, just no.

The wellington looks good!
