Maybe an odd question, but do you have a site which you know will never make money, but you just can't let go of?

I have one (health related) which I keep meaning to sell, but almost every week without fail I get an email from someone telling me how it has helped them and helped to change their life.  Moneywise it is hopeless, but I think it gives people more value than any of the sites I have which do make money.  That in turn makes me very happy, especially at this time of year when the most emails come in.

Maybe one day I will convert it to more of a charity thing.  I think it will fit better there and it would be nice to have set something up like that.

Do you have anything which gives you a buzz without the money?

Yeah I have a hobby site or two that don't make money.

I never want to kill a site, as my sites are like my children (http://th3core.com/talk/web-development/my-sites-are-like-my-children/) and I can always find a use for them. A given site may not make money directly but it always supports the overall plan, or at least there is a plan for it to do so soon.

I have a couple of sites I love which make very little money themselves, but give valuable link support to some that do.

I have great difficulty explaining the value of that to my accountant!

if it was just sites it wouldn't be too bad.  I've had domains on renewall for close to 10 years now that have never had sites on them, but I just like the domain and would like to think I'll do something with them one day.

What a waste of money.

I pulled the plug on my topical hobby directory which had been around since 2000 just this year.  Heh. Took me that long to admit directories are dead.

Ok I've recently ditched this one (aff) website that promised loads of income, that never really paid out. Designing it was fun at the start, but keeping it up proved to be a drag. Was too high-maintenance, so I had to ditch her ...ummm... it

Sometimes that warm feeling in your heart is worth more than money.  Keep it.  And don't feel guilty.
