I don't spend a lot of  money on many things.  I'll drive a car until the wheels fall off and buy clothing from the second-hand store, but I will spend money on things I interface with a lot.  Like a good monitor and a good keyboard and a good pair of sunglasses and good shoes.

If you remember the old clickity clack keyboards from the 80's, this is similiar but waaaay better.

I just bought the ultimate S Das Keyboard that I've been coveting for a few years.  I knew it would feel good, but I didn't know that it would take so little to push the keys.  Absolutely relaxing to type with.

And I love the sound of the keys.  I actually purchased some keyboard stickers to put on the keys I never use:  the numbers and F keys at the top.  It has a nice little USB port on the side to plug in your mouse, which is handy because this keyboard actually uses 2 USB ports.  I think the only downside is that they key puller tool is a separate purchase.

Highly, highly recommended.

IBM M tech Keyboards are all I will use.

Best damn money your fingers will ever have spent on them

Ouch, ooohh, ack. My fingers (wrists really) now hurt at the very thought of lots of typing without an ergonomic keyboard. Once hooked, I can't go back.

Currently on one of these

Me too, I have the thin, less curved version, the 2000 model.

Was an easier adjustment from standard, and I can transition smoothly to one of the more aggressively curved ones now.

I too have an ergonomic keyboard but I forget the model number.

I have worn the letters off some of the keys, so that gets me partway to the one Grnidone likes! :)

@ergo:  I gave up my microsoft ergo keyboard (exactly like yours) for this one.  I had trouble using the ergo one...I think my hands are too small for it so it actually hurts my wrists MORE to use the ergo keyboard.

@Jason:  the designer who made this keyboard looked to the IBM Model M's...I've typed on both and this is an improvement to the M.

JasonD

so it's not M specific but M inspired - nice :)

I must say that these things are a wise purchase for colleagues. They are amazing to use but a pain in the ears for those around you. :)

I've also worn keys off on my cheap MS ergonomic keyboard (and so there's no confusion - ergophobe has nothing to do with ergonomics, a common confusion).

Anyway Elizabeth, if you don't like your labels wearing off, maybe you should just get a Optimus keyboard. A little pricy, but hey, some things are. No ergo model either

If these get down to $150, I'll own one. But I might be dead by then.

buckworks

It says they don't ship the Optimus outside the US. So that ends that. ;)

But really, Ergo, if I'm going to drop big bucks on extravagant luxuries, I'd prefer sparkly things set in gold or platinum that I could hand down to my granddaughters someday.

littleman

I never learned to type in the normal way, I actually use just three fingers on each hand.  I could type that way without looking at the keyboard but I need a conventional keyboard layout.  When I'm on an ergonomic board I feel like a caveman.

LM.  LOL.  I've seen people like you.  Programming pure genius with 2 fingers.

I use an ergonomic keyboard and can't go back.

Although I will say I am seriously contemplating converting to MAC and love the little wireless keyboard that they sell that I use for my ipad.  That's my zen.

bill

I'm with LM. Touch typing slows me down. ;)

However, I'm a sucker for the old keyboards. I have an old Gateway2000 keyboard at home with the keys almost worn off. It's so loud it annoys the people next door when I type late at night so I have to close the window.

ugh - I absolutely loathe those. They're like a toy. Shows how personal these things are doesn't it?

We tried the MS comfort curve ones, but they kept failing on us. Shame, liked them.
