I can't be bothered to travel to Brighton - bit of hike etc... but if I could, I would just go an hang around the bars/pubs where everyone is drinking and save myself the cost of zero.

Never been to conference but thought what the hell there's a first time for everything. Plus I can treat it as a little excursion away from family life for a bit

Free is always good value for money, and if it is anything like the usual conferences, most of the good stuff happens at the bar later.

If it was a bit nearer, I would go and loiter... but Brighton is a 5 hour drive - even free has it limits for me.

its around 4-5 hours from me too, but I'd like to get to know a few people I talk to on twitter and skype a bit better.  Don't have enough real world connections.

I went to the last one and was pretty impressed.  Bit of a mix of sessions - at least one of them you had to wonder whether they'd read up on who the audience was. However quite a good mix of topics and heavy v light presentations. 

Definitely got some stuff out of it that made it worth a day out of the office.  Only dodgy bit really was bumping in to some Ben Elton double outside.

I'd come if Ben Elton would guarantee another argument I very nearly started an argument with the same guy (I think) last week for very similar reasons. Suggest you sit near enough the door to leave if provoked.

I'm probably booking in to a hotel. It's not far for me, but I sulked on the way home feeling all left out last times so I might stay over.
