I am in the NY from Tuesday for 6 days. Good suggestions on how to deal with phone. I don;t need a lot of data, probably just maps and shit and some calls within NYC.

Gimpy, I don't know much about sim-based phones but, fwiw...

I believe AT&T phones use sims.  The old advice in some forums was to buy a prepaid walmart phone (no walmarts in NYC, though),  login, then move the sim.  Looks like they have prepaid sim cards now.

Weird that there are no Walmarts though. I rather it is inconvenient, therefore I think it is weird.
