The Pi-hole can block ads for all devices on your network.  All you need is a Raspberry Pi connected to your router.  It was inspired as a low-cost, open source alternative to the AdTrap.

There are so many great application for the Pi boards.  They are in short supply but I was thinking about doing a cluster of the $5 Pi Zero boards and using them to mine gridcoins.  The power consumption of these things are just ridiculously low.

It is getting to the point where computing power is getting nearly disposable.  I suppose in the near future we'll have SOC boards so small and efficient that they'll be powered by radio waves.

I could actually get 95% of my work done on a Pi 3 set up with Raspian.  My only obsticle would be a couple of windows only programs I'm forced to use.

Ergo, you are probably getting much less in the back country than I.  Although you are at a higher elevation which probably gives you a bit more solar radiation.

EG, couldn't pi-hole save you some bandwidth on your cottage network?

In my dotage, I've taken to wearing a brimmed hat, long sleeves and long pants hiking and climbing. I call it my "batty old man" outfit.

First thing that crossed my mind. And if I could get it to block traffic to all destinations associated with Apple, that would be huge too.

Anybody here running pi-hole?
