I guess I should run a test, but it will take too long.   I have the possibility of a link from a .gov.uk site, but it will be https://www.domain.com.

Just raw like that, no link.  now I am pretty confident they will get followed, but is there any juice passed on?

Initially they said it was fine to have links in an interview, they come to post it, and the lawyers are involved and will only allow my business name and no link.

So wondering if my business name as a URL is worth going for.  Any experiences anyone cares to share?

I feel its a shame not to try, so I might go for it anyway.  Nothing to loose I guess.

I would take it! Mentions alone can rank a site. Saw an example a while ago. Deff go for it!

I've read this over the years in places, I can't recall the sources.  I want to say that it was even google-guy who said this once.

Unlinked URL mentions from trusted pages which are widely seen can still drive cut-n-paste traffic and brand related searches.

Got It!  Real links... took some persuasion, but the lawyers agreed to a disclaimer on the bottom  

Congrats on getting an actual link instead of just the mention they offered earlier. I've had many instances when a non-linked URL reference spiked ranking for my sites.

But they do love precedents, which you now have.  If there are related gov sites that might be encouraged to link, it will be worth your time to do some documentation on this one, Rupert.  If this is a "high order" gov agency (federal, for instance), lower echelons (states) will follow their lead if made aware of your acceptance.
