Yes, freedom is the key.  Or as Celine said in Voyage au bout de la nuit...

"Les indigènes eux, ne fonctionnent guère en somme qu'à coups de trique, ils gardent cette dignité, tandis que les Blancs, perfectionnés par l'instruction publique, ils marchent tout seuls" (Voyage au bout de la nuit, p. 157, edition by "Ebooks gratuits" http://www.ebooksgratuits.com/pdf/celine_voyage_au_bout_de_la_nuit.pdf )

Roughly translated: "The natives, by and large, did nothing unless beaten with clubs, they held onto that much dignity, whereas the whites, perfected by public education, worked all on their own."

And, back to our regularly-scheduled program.... I don't know how much of what I did last week, but I did a week's worth of exercise yesterday: about 20 miles (it would be 22 miles by the trail, but we lost the trail and took one long cut and a couple of short cuts, the trail being under several feet of snow) with 5500 feet of elevation gain (was supposed to be 6000, but we didn't make the summit) and a 42-pound pack.

Wow!

I did a repeat of last week.
4/4 gym sessions
quick 1/4 mile x 2
1 mile x 2

This week and next will be more of a challenge with the CoreCon meet-up.  I am planning on doing everything M-Th this week and then pounding it out again when I get back home.

>>challenge with the CoreCon meet-up

I heard Mr Mackin was leading a group run every morning.

After working out twice over the weekend I hit the gym for four days to free up the rest of the week to hang out at CoreCon.  I didn't do any mile runs, but I did do three 1/4 mile faster pace runs.  The plan is to hit the gym four days straight when I come back.

Rupert

CoreCon has started... I am expecting daily updates on physical activity....  that a big river to swim in.  ;D  I am sure there is nothing nasty lurking.....

Last week, 3 runs and 1 cycle with Lucy... daughter.

so 4/4  pulled it together over the weekend, otherwise I was on target for 1 run.

Wilmington = +7lbs.

I going to the gym the next four days to fulfill my weekly commitment.  I'll keep you guys posted on how long it takes to come off.

rcjordan

Wilmington = +12lbs.  If it is my normal travel gain, 6 will be water weight.

On Apr 11th I reported 175 here.  At that time, I was trying to add blueberries to my daily diet and was up to 178 by the time we headed to Corecon.  The day after returning home (and already losing some water weight) I weighed 190.  After that, I lost 4 the first day and 2 the 2nd. This morning, I'm 181.

Nice job RC!

I am now +3lbs. from pre-Wilmington, the first 4lbs. cam off very fast.  The next three are going to take longer.  Fortunately I've been able to eat  with discipline since I've been home -- though I have to say that it isn't as easy as it was before the trip.  I was able to do my 4/4 for the week by hitting the gym every day since I've been back.  I didn't do any running this week, but I should be starting that back up next week.

rcjordan

178, which was what I weighed when I left for Wilmington.  Goal is 170, but 173 is where I tend to plateau.

Rupert

Ok 60 hours of driving has left me little time for exercise in the last couple of weeks.

So last week I managed 2 runs, a good walk,, and a night of dancing to a local band playing covers.
mentally 4/4
physically I think i might call it 3/4

I'm staying out of this one for now.. Wilmington was tough and I haven't done shit since neither stepped on the scale. May is the month to get back on the horse though.
