I've never understood the draw.

As a spectator sport, the only thing more boring I can remember is bowling.

As a participant, I never needed an excuse to hang outside and drink beer all day.

I was a spectator for 4 days on the lastest European Tour tournament here in Denmark a month ago.

I somewhat agree that it can be a bit boring, but on the other hand following a group of pros hitting +300 yards and holing out from far away can't be beaten.

Oh, and the Danish crowd wins again for being the best crowd in Golf. We had more spectators than in any other tournament on the tour:

No sh##.  And I'm **PAYING** so Louise can do that.

Motorsports and contact sports beat single players hitting/rolling a ball around any day.

Especially if you're playing instead of spectating.

Somehow, the police always get involved in my participating in motorsports.

(Truthfully, that's one of the main reasons I like powerboats --no rules about speed in open water.)

My grandmother was an excellent athlete, but never golfed a day in her life. However, she *loved* watching golf. When I asked why, she said she loved  seeing sunshine and green grass on TV when it was cold and snowy and dark in Vermont in the winter. :-)

I've only played it once, but I loved the fact I had to turn my phone off (that was one of the rules at the course) when out on the course and then 'forget' to turn it on when having a few at the club house.
