This isn't really a surprise to me, in the last few years there has been an upswing pushing sugary beverages onto consumers.  McDonald's came out with their high sugar/HFCS "coffee" drinks.  Other fast food joints like Sonic have been growing.  Starbucks is pushing an ever sweetening menu.  Here on the West Coast there's been a sharp rise in boba tea places, these beverages can have an enormous amount of sugar in them, as much as 200grams when someone gets a large with extra toppings.
