Yeah, it is a shame.  We electronically subscribe to two national papers (using our daughter's student discount) and get the daily electronic and the Sunday paper from one of the local papers.  There is no way we have time to read it all.  I think my wife feels like we have an obligation to support journalism.

BTW, the San Jose Mercury News has a great app; it is very much like reading a real paper newspaper.

My local rag has locals bleating about why the syndicated news isn't local. Meanwhile the actual articles are riddled with ads, my browser takes a fit shifting up and down while all the ads load. Seems like the general population is unaware of the consequences of what's happening.

If we paid £1/m to the local rags that'd go a long way in keeping things running.
