Denial is the key.  It's easy to say, "by the time this becomes a problem, I'll be dead," but the parade of horribles from climate change is moving faster than we anticipated and my guess is they will effect the West and the Coasts first.  Now might be the time to explore the mountains of the N. East, before before the land rush.

We are in the middle of a typical winter storm here in Cape Town (hammering rain, wind and big seas - hence the Cape of Storms) - but this particular storm has sucked cold air from the Antarctic across the south Atlantic and is due to dump a lot of snow over the southern Cape, Lesotho and as far north as Johannesburg which is not unheard of but still pretty rare!

Re: The wild weather has started. This summer winter will be crazy.

Not sure exactly the source, but a friend just read off a NOAA alert for the Sierra Nevada. The 15-day forecast is showing snowfall amounts of up to 184 inches in Mammoth and 48 inches all the way down to Reno. Yes. Mammoth might get 15 feet of snow between now and Christmas.

This comes after the third driest year ever recorded in California.

We'll probably get about 2 feet on Monday/Tuesday here with snow forecast a chance of precipitation almost every day in the long-range forecast
