Microinverter = plug-n-play.

This is smart.  It isn't a total solar solution, but it is a pretty nice way to offset fossil fuel use and very obtainable.   RC, the article said they will eventually open up internationally.

I've been watching the plug-n-play microinverters for a couple of years now.  Last I looked, a setup like this was $3k-ish --if you could find it.

I wonder what the life-time carbon balance is since a lot of these will be in less-than-ideal positions (all the photos show them mounted vertically on railings).

It's something I've been wondering about our less-than-ideal panels. Did we actually do a good thing or not? It gives us resilience, but in terms of carbon footprint, it's not like there's an Energy Balancetm sticker on your system that tells you the carbon inputs and expected lifetime carbon savings.

Similar to lifetime cost of ownership for a product, lifetime carbon balance is a super hard thing to figure out.
