This strikes me as a brilliant business model with opportunities for smaller and larger chassis manufacturers alike.

Making the 4 wheel drive points modular is a nice touch.  If something goes wrong with one wheel or motor unit just replace it with a new or rebuilt one and send the old unit out to be rebuilt.

What was the other company with a very similar concept - small pickup, delivery van, camper van all built on the same skateboard platform?

Debbie likes in-wheel motors. Belly-up-ish Lordstown Motors was going to use them.  From what I saw earlier, IWMs didn't seem as efficient, but that may very well be wrong.

They can't be too ineffecient, at least not if well-optimized, since that is basically how railroads run. The diesel engine turns a shaft that drives a generator that sends electricity to the traction motors that, yes, are next to, not in the wheels, but still the same idea isn't it?

If Elaphe would develop a kit that included a controller and a battery (or recommended battery), this would be a great conversion set-up.  We could start with Travoli's SUV.
