I'll add that FB Marketplace has decimated Craigslist, so this may do the same for Musk's Mess.

Hopefully this works and someone does reddit next. My feed there is currently mangled and moldy.

Some reddit has moved to kbin, which is a decentralized network like mastodon.  Here's the spinoff of r/functionalprint. But that may be the only one in my feeds that's made what appears to be a successful jump. Overall, my /r feeds haven't been disrupted much.

BTW, a quick check of a few nsfw subreddits (for research purposes, hhh) shows them to be still working.  IMO, that's where reddit gets a lot of its horsepower from.  BUT some of the new-ish anti-porn laws by the states may soon undercut that.

Checking out kbin.social led me to https://join-lemmy.org, which is another federated platform Redditors seem to be checking out.

I have to confess all this Fediverse stuff gives me a headache.

I thought lemmy and kbin were one and the same but they're just joined at the hip.

"The Kbin is distinct from lemmy, but it looks like you can access lemmy communities from kbin and vice versa."

July 5, 2023:

"Twitter has serious concerns that Meta Platforms ("Meta") has engaged in systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property. Over the past year, Meta has hired dozens of former Twitter employees... Meta deliberately assigned these employees to develop, in a matter of months, Meta's copycat 'Threads' app...."

Now Threads needs to create an app that lets a user replicate some/most/all of their twitter posts into their threads account.

But the user group to watch is journalists, they are addicted to Twitter's reach and they're the ones really keeping it alive.  If they move in wholesale quantities, twit will be eviscerated.

Currently near the top of the front page of reddit.  Very accurate.  Be sure to look closely at Zuck....

>>journalists,

People usually underestimate this. I hear people say all the time that they don't care about Twitter because they don't care what someone had for coffee this morning. They don't realize that all the news they consume, especially print journalism, is heavily influenced by Twitter.

And I have to say that Twitter is one of the best sources of news on exercise physiology. Many of the absolute top shelf researchers in the world regularly post everything from hot takes to their latest peer-reviewed papers.
