I am currently out with someone involved with this.
No one is being prosecuted it seems. (very few if there are) Particularly if they are over a certain age.
It is amazing that so many pay it.
There is a small oddity with the law. It covers LIVE broadcasts. So if you watch anything live in Netflix, you have to have a licence.

His theory is:
The current Govt will kick it down the road, and the next Govt will have more than enough on their plate to worry about it.  Eventually it will probably be subscription.

If they could work out how to licence it all to the rest of the world, it would be an amazing money machine.

Edited for spelling and add as back on a PC :)

I haven't been paying for 4 years or so. None of us watch regular TV in this house, all streaming.

Had a look around and it's not obvious what timespan the definition of live ends. Is it an hour later, a day? No idea.

I'll watch some sport live, but I guess to be on the safe side I should watch it in the pub instead.
