Mojeek search engine has been quietly working on their news search for quite some time and the results are pretty good.  Mojeek has also tweaked the look of their news page:

What I like: no ads, no slideshow scrolls, they don't track you, different mix of news sources than the usual players everybody else uses, because they don't track they don't try to personalize the news to feed you more of what they think you want.

Looks great.

Cons:
1. Still no nav in the footer. Boo! Hiss!

2. Needs to throttle the DailyMail as it tends to dominate Health and other categories (Science, IIRC) on occasion.  My concern is that it cheapens Mojeek by association. (Though, humanity being what it is,  I suspect it is one of Mojeek's most-clicked news sources.) The Independent is heavily shown, too, but I'll give it a pass as barely respectable.

Bookmarked to see if I use it. New BBC app is a backward step all they have is "accountability"

It would be great to be able to select news sources, although I suppose I dont have to click on them.  (agree ref Daily Mail, just makes me angry)

Sorting some issues with lo-res images and images that would be better fits.

I've added a few more feeds in entertainment/health. There's a bunch more that can be added shortly.

There are some UI params that should appear soon, not quite specific source selection, but being able to weight country of origin and such.
