This reminds me of what the finance manager at the dealership mentioned. He said they were finally getting cars they could sell, but for a long time Hyundai was just sending them $60,000 Ioniqs while most customers were looking for a $25,000 Elantra.

When Fiat first introduced the 500 I rented one a couple of times in Orlando.  Colorado would have to pay the taxes before I'd consider it.

A friend of mine owns two Porches and a Fiat 500e. Everyone in the family fights over the 500e. When we visited for a few days, the Porsches never came out of the garage.

Granted, they live in a European city where streets can be narrow and parking difficult, so part of it is they like the convenience of the small size for around town.

For a car I'm not going to take on long trips, I've grown more fond of simple and cheap.  I think we have mentioned before cars like an original VW Bug or any of the early Japanese cars.  We don't need all the infotainment and tracking stuff.  I also don't want something that looks like a door wedge.  Once upon a time we could make cars with headroom, roomy, cheap and good mileage like the VW Rabbit.  Why is that so hard to do now?

I loved my 2010 Toyota Yaris. That little thing sipped gas, and really, it was all I needed for getting groceries etc. I sold it to my friend's kid going to college ONLY because I needed something slightly larger to pull my kayak trailer.

I looked into the Yaris around 2012. One of our mechanic employees drove the wheels off his.  I ended up buying a used 2010 Honda Fit because it towed on all fours.

Take a Yaris or a Fit and slap a battery in it.

Honestly the Fiat 500e is probably the type of EV I would buy -- light, simple maneuverable and not ugly.  It appeals so much more to me than the EV monsters.
