This is the rare X variant.  Toronados were elegant muscle cars with FWD and 455ci engines.  This drivetrain was powerful enough to be used in Revcon & GMC motorhomes up to 26 feet (& custom motorhomes 32 ft+).

The next door neighbor had a Toronado. If I had to guess, a bit later than 1967 only based on the fact that I don't remember much from 1967 (I was 4) and I'm pretty sure I remember vaguely when he bought it.

Of course, it wasn't one of these super rare beasts, but he was quite enamored with it and I got quite a few rides to elementary school in that thing.

I have always found that transmission interesting.  People have used to to do all kinds of wacky things like sticking a 500 cu in (8.2L) V8 into a Porsche 911.  My big curvy 1970s boat of choice would be a 71-73 Buick Riviera.
