Rumbas

This one: https://www.husqvarna.com/us/robotic-lawn-mowers/automower-415x/

Extremely rough and will do steep slopes, very tall grass and uneven surfaces. Had it for 6 months and it only got stuck once which is great as my summerhouse is 5 hours drive.

NOW we're getting closer.  *Lidar* nav mower.

This mower is not for me, but (local only?) lidar is an interesting possibility. Now to get rid of the damn app dependency.

Looks good, except..

This Lymow One Plus robotic mower can handle your lawn so you don't have to - Phandroid

...looks like it phones home. If it can't absolutely 100% run locally, you end up with a $2700 brick if the company goes belly-up or decides the product isn't profitable enough to continue support.  Viral bad PR might make a big company hesitate but a US customer doesn't have jackshit he can do about a foreign manufacturer pulling the plug.

And PII, don't forget PII.

In the future, we will own nothing.

I love the concept of Eight Sleep, but aside from the outrageous price tag, I just cannot accept the idea of a bed with a subscription. And good Lord, the amount of PII they collect!

Yes, there are non-subscription options (also with outrageous price tags), but Eight Sleep seems to be the leader.

I think the price tag is justified - you have to pay for that endless stream of podcast advertising somehow.
