Please help with GoFundMe project to produce masks and gowns

Many hospitals are dangerously short on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Doctors, nurses and hospital workers are putting their lives on the line to care for people infected by COVID-19.

The Dessy Group, based in NYC, is a manufacturer of bridesmaid and formal dresses. They have partnerships with factories in Asia who could switch to producing isolation masks and gowns.

I'm asking you to check out the Dessy Group's GoFundMe project to import isolation masks and gowns from Asia, to donate to hospitals and health care workers in NYC. Visit the page then do something to support the project if you can.

- sharing this in whatever social media channels you can
- asking your contacts to share it too, especially if they have connections in NY

FYI I have known Alan Dessy (the CEO) for close to two decades and I'd have major confidence in the Dessy Group's ability to make this happen if they can raise sufficient funds.

I just got word from Alan that they're putting in the first order today:

We are ... ordering below for immediate shipment today and tomorrow.  Should be in NY by end of week.

10,000 3 PLY masks USD 0.55/pc.   - total $5500
1000 KN95 masks  USD 2.65/pc.     - total $2650

Grand total = $8150

We need to raise a lot more for isolation gowns which are $19.50 each.

As I type this there have been 93 donors. Donations have ranged from $2 to $1000.

Just think if we could get exposure for this to rival some of the jokes and memes I'm seeing! :-)

No, no N95 masks. They did get input on the designs from medical professionals but these won't be the "good ones".

They should make it donateable via Paypal, i'd imagine a significant percentage of people would be put off by having to enter CC details.
