Used to play a bit myself. My claim to fame is I played the Scottish champion when I was 11, he spanked my arse (not literally).

Been meaning to spend some time honing some skills at chess but never get round to it. A lot of it online is speed chess to avoid the bots.

Worth a watch, if not for the chess for a woman to turn things upside down.

It looked quite dark on the trailers.... usually I'm good with dark, but my wife doesn't like dark shows in the evening and, honestly, with all the dark in the world, I've found my tolerance much decreased.

My chess claim to fame is that I was the fourth-grade chess champion. Of course, I had a massive advantage over most kids as I had a brother 7 years older to play against.

It's not all that dark I think. She perhaps doesn't have the model family upbringing or a true role model but to me it's more about her inert talent (and lack of social development) that is the cliche with genius types I suppose, that non-conformity thing.

Me too.  One of the only compulsive Netflix binges I've had this year, but really enjoyed it.  Its dark enough to be interesting, but not OTT.

Will say no more for fear of unwanted spoilers.

My wife is the same way but she really enjoys it. Not really that dark. We are about 5 or 6 episodes in and I really like it so far.
