Amazon’s new Fire HD 10 tablet is nothing special — but hey, it's cheap

I have a Kindle Fire, really old. I use it almost entirely for my RSS  and don't have RSS readers on other devices.

Part of that is intentional. I like that separation. It makes reading news a conscious choice.

Part of that, however, is a result of the fact that the app universe on the Fire is not only limited, but seems to get more and more so. So it never feels quite like having a "real" tablet.

Of course, there are workarounds to install native Android apps, but it's more hassle than most of the apps are worth and last I looked, it was not directly from the Google store, but from weird third-party repositories. If feels risky enough to download a password manager from the Google, Apple or Amazon stores, but from some site that makes Android apps available for Fire? Not so much.
