Pet peeve: software != tech && tech != software

The headline is that by 2024, 80% of all tech projects will be created by non-developers using no-code or low-code tools. But of course, what they really mean, is that 80% of software projects will be accomplished this way and even that is probably horribly misleading.

But the underlying idea - major rise of no-code and low-code tools - is the interesting part.

If you had a 10 year old child, would you think that programming was a likely good career, assuming she would enter the workforce in about 2033?

I get where this is coming from, but.....

To me building a logical structure takes a certain brain.  A coding brain.  some of the airheads about (Like me)  can hack bits of code to make them stick together, but a good coder crafts a thing of beauty.

the skill required to build a project is still the same, it's just a bit easier to get to the end result.  Easier only in the amount of "code to be written"  but it still has to be put together properly, otherwise you end up with garbage.

The case of someone using Excel to keep vaccine records in the UK at the start of the pandemic, and so losing a load of patients is a nod to the problem of having everyone involved.

I seem to remember someone saying the web dev was going with the into of ruby on rails, and then of course WordPress. (OK I am sure there are better examples)

Interesting article. Thx.
